In a remarkable pursuit in the state’s largest city, law enforcement officials employed an unconventional approach to apprehend a shoplifter outside of a pharmacy in the city of Albuquerque this month.
The suspect tried to outrun a horse-mounted police officer, resulting in a scene from the Old West. The chase continued for minutes, with the man running across traffic, with the mounted officer behind him.
According to officials, the suspect had allegedly shoplifted from an Albuquerque Walgreens.
Other mounted officers joined in as the officer in charge of the investigation approached the suspect, who was wearing a black shirt and black pants at the time. The officer began shouting as he attempted to halt the suspect, who was driving a dark-brown horse that quickly closed in on him. The suspect was forced to a halt after being surronded by the mounted officers. He was taken into custody.
